I had a dream last night that I couldn't find Ben... My subconscious telling me to "Snap out of it!" Today we'll go to the farmers market. Ben can have whichever cookie he likes.

Spring Break

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH! Ok, that about sums up how I feel about Spring Break. Only 4 more days to go, but it might as well be 4 weeks. Today, my patience - *sigh* - it ran out. It just ran out and left me there, raw and burned out and, ugh. I really wanted today to be fine, I even tried to turn it around this morning and finally got busy doing some ironing. Things were going so well, and then Ben iced the cake when he announced from his room "As soon as I'm done cleaning up my room, we can take a nap." Let me tell you, this sentence had the same effect on me as "As soon as I'm done putting in my diaphragm, we can have sex." would have on my husband. Ironing schmironing! Did someone say NAP?! Nap time with Ben means stories and snuggling, and ahhhhh, yes, sleeping. Actual sleeping. Nothing better than nap-time with Ben. Plus, he's got the best bed in the house. I was ready to brag to you all that my 5 year old son not only said the above words, but actually followed through... Unfortunately, it was all a lie. There was no nap. I don't think he really meant it at all. It was all about rolled barley and raisin cookies that I baked yesterday, and told him he could have for a snack this afternoon. Ben has not taken regular naps since last summer. I weaned him off of them figuring he'd do better in school if he wasn't conditioned to sleep right after lunch. But before that, he slept for an hour or two nearly every day, and sometimes he still will. I think he was falling back on the old pre-Kindergarten schedule where he would take his nap after lunch, and then have a snack upon waking up. I think he was sooooo excited about getting to eat cookies for a snack that he led me on with the nap talk, all the while just wating to dip his hand into the cookie jar. The lack of nap, like a broken promise, had the same effect on me that no sex would have had on my husband. I was cranky and irritable with Ben the rest of the day, and when my husband got home this evening, I was out on the patio with a bag of Natural Nacho Cheese Doritos and a Corona and I announced "I'm taking the night off." Having just recently read this post over at Beck's I'm wondering if I've been tagged with the Premenstrual Syndrome meme.

I need a thing, a theme, something. Sage has her Word Wise Wednesday, Andrea has her Monday Mission, Mad has her Super Thinky blog fests, BubandPie has her book reviews.

I have:

boxes in the living room,

stacks and piles in the bedroom,

I don't want to talk about it.

No, I need a schtik, a thing. I like music. I LOVE music. I've been toying with the idea of doing music review blog posts. It would make it easier for me, I think, to have a set format - when I get back from a trip and have difficulty getting my brain to work.
I'll call it "The Jet Lag Lounge and Coffee Bar."

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the... uh, music.

(...coming soon.)
